Stevio...LA LA Lovin' It?

I'm British-born Chinese from Bristol, UK. I’m LA-based. I’m a hip hop aficionado. After 15 years in London I moved to LA to pursue a new career and outlook on life.

Back in the 80s I was a DJ. In the 90s I contributed to the world's first street style exhibition at London's Victoria & Albert Museum. In 2011, I had my first interviews published. Today, I’m keeping busy with music, art, photos and writing.

RIP to Soul Brother #1

James Brown passed away on Christmas Day. That is very sad. He was only 73 and I'd never seen him live even though I had the chance a couple of times. Never no more.

Wikipedia said this:

"Brown was admitted to the Emory Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia on December 24, 2006 after a dentist visit where he was found to have severe pneumonia.[9] Brown died the next day on December 25, 2006, Christmas Day, at around 1:45 a.m. (06:45 UTC) aged 73. [10] The cause of death was heart failure, according to his agent. [1] James was quoted saying "I'm going away tonight" sometime before he passed away. He then took three long, quiet breaths, and closed his eyes.[1] Brown's body rested on the stage of legendary Apollo Theater in Harlem, the site of his debut. A private ceremony was held in Brown's hometown of Augusta, Georgia and another public ceremony was officiated by Rev. Al Sharpton, a day later at the James Brown Arena there."

The BBC brought together some amazing quotes from James Brown fans and friends.

Stash Wid Da Slickness

I found out about the SLICK x STASH: 'Rust In Piece' exhibition at the Melt Gallery on Sunset through a MySpace contact. "Shit!", I thought, "...almost missed this graff dopeness!" Luckily it was on till December 22nd, so Treanne and I took a trip after doing Xmas errands.

Claim to fame?
I've met Slick before in LA, and as I remember Stash shouted at me when I was outside his Lower-East Side Recon store, thinking I was a bootlegger: "don't be filming in my store!"...whatever!

If you're not in town I've captured the goodness for you here. In fact, I'm thinking of picking up a Slick piece to add to my Seen canvas. My living room is becoming a homage to graffiti.

Check out Stash's laser etched graff wood blocks. Mental?!
