One million singles for U.K. rappers, Rizzle Kicks

Unknown to me a new, UK rap duo has been slowly brewing in Brighton. With one million single sales to their name and over 300,000 album sold, Rizzle Kicks has a headline show this November in London.

Rizzle Kicks shouldn't be confused with "DJ Kicks" (aka "the most important DJ-mix series ever.") No, this Kicks is the energetic name for this rap group made up of Jordan 'Rizzle' Stephens and Harley 'Sylvester' Alexander-Sule. Since being signed by Island Records in 2011, success seems to have come quickly for the lads, including a sell out UK tour.

Mixtape publicity But, how did the ball start rolling? As with all good tales...with a bit of talent, a can do attitude and a bit of piracy. A collaboration between Rizzle and Sylvester entitled, "Minor Breaches of Discipline," featured Rizzle's playground raps and Harley's singing over the tunes. Selecting prize samples from some the biggest pop artists (think Gorillaz, Lily Allen, Arctic Monkeys) obviously helped get this unknown group's voice heard.
