Stevio...LA LA Lovin' It?

I'm British-born Chinese from Bristol, UK. I’m LA-based. I’m a hip hop aficionado. After 15 years in London I moved to LA to pursue a new career and outlook on life.

Back in the 80s I was a DJ. In the 90s I contributed to the world's first street style exhibition at London's Victoria & Albert Museum. In 2011, I had my first interviews published. Today, I’m keeping busy with music, art, photos and writing.

B-Boy Extravaganza, part II

Part II

The icing on the cake was that that Basquiat's exhibition came to town from New York too (yes, I saw it in March ;-) ). But this time MOCA and Reebok held a few opening parties, and nothing..nuthin was gonna keep me from seeing Grandmaster Flash throwdown in LA. Word! Me and Taymor hit downtown and crashed the line (which was 200 people long) and partied with the beautiful, cultured people of LA.

I had to school the guy on the Reebok booth. He was saying there were limited editions of Basquiat and Reebok shoes in the store done by a Japanese designer. When I told him Maharishi is English he grunted some excuses. Lame ass! I wear Maharishi...everyone should wear Maharishi!

I was such a ligger I took along some photos of Grandmaster Flash I took in Miami at the Winter Music Conference 2002 where he was DJing at the adidas party I crashed. That night I left with my coveted adidas trefoil pillow under my jacket. Nice! Anyhow, I never did get Flash's autograph "he leaves straight after the show" I was told. Yea, but I knew he was staying at the Standard downtown...let's see if he leaves me something at the front desk?! Tenacious...me?
