Stevio...LA LA Lovin' It?

I'm British-born Chinese from Bristol, UK. I’m LA-based. I’m a hip hop aficionado. After 15 years in London I moved to LA to pursue a new career and outlook on life.

Back in the 80s I was a DJ. In the 90s I contributed to the world's first street style exhibition at London's Victoria & Albert Museum. In 2011, I had my first interviews published. Today, I’m keeping busy with music, art, photos and writing.

Make way for the S-O-V

Lady Sovereign came to LA's The Echo last month, after getting delayed in New York. Strep throat or something ;)

Anyway, the 5-foot north-west Londoner was welcomed by an energetic crowd who loved her The Cure cover and the classic "Love Me or Hate Me". I was there with my new (Xmas pressie) Flip video camera... it took me a minute to get the edited video up online. The quality's much better than my (old skool) Canon S500. What do you think?

Who's your stylist?! I couldn't work out what the knitted hat, smiley "acid" face t-shirt and gold rope chain was saying about her, but if it's new rave, wasn't that over before it began?!

Her music is catchy, her videos are a little inconsistent, but she's met Jay-Z and Usher and was signed to Def Jam by Mr Beyonce Knowles, so we gotta respect that. Let's forget about her slightly odd public behavior and antagonistic persona, eh? Is she the Gordon Ramsey of UK grime/rap? :)
