Happy New Year - Times Square...the sleaziest block in America!!!

Happy New Year!!!

Here is the history of the rejuvenation of Times Square in the 1980s. Without this no one would be spending hours waiting for the ball to drop in Times Square. I remember my first trip to New York in 1988. 42nd street around Port Authority was still a bit grimy and the peep shows were still there.

I love Charlie Ahearn's home videos of the chaos and anarchy on the streets. I will leave this post with his classic quote:

"I think it's fantastic...I like the fact that it's a corporate wasteland of entertainment..." Charlie Ahearn.

Read an interview with Charlie Ahearn and his wife, Jane Dickson at Miss Rosen's blog.
And check the DVD out on Amazon or BrinkDVD.

恭喜發財 Gōng xǐ fā cái - Year of the Tiger

Happy new year of the Tiger. Continued prosperity for 2010!

Thanks to Tristan Eaton @ Thunderdog for the dope Chinese zodiac character.

再見 2009...你好 2010!

Roll on 2009...

My 2008 reviewed in a pictorial. What a great year...Be sure to make the most of 2009 whatever it may bring!

The new year awaits us...

This time of the year is all about you and your goals for 2009! I've thought about them, but how do you break them down into reality?

Well a quick Google search will land you something, but the Mindtools site is pretty comprehensive even if the video is a bit cheesy :)

Here's a summary of Mindtools' tested advice. It's an extension of the S.M.A.R.T. (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time-bound) way of setting goals. Go to website for more details.

• State each goal as a positive statement

• Be precise

• Set priorities

• Write goals down

• Keep operational goals small

• Set performance goals, not outcome goals

• Set realistic goals

Murakami leaves NYC...

I didn't make it to New York to see the Murakami shows (Brooklyn Museum and Gagosian Gallery), but I celebrated in my own way by (finally) hanging my Supreme Murakami skateboards. Those sold out quickly, but I scoured the stores and found a complete set available last year. They've been sat in my climate-controled secure storage (aka my bedroom) until now!

Happy 2008..

Here's my formidible "To-do List". Not all of it will happen, but God willing! ;-)

• Get a job with a Greencard
• Move to New York/San Francisco/Hong Kong
• Start the condo project
• Visit Sandra in Shanghai
• Visit Chris and the family in Portugal
• Vacation in Hawaii
• Get my Porsche Cayman
• Honeymoon in Thailand ~uh, aren't there a couple of missing pieces ;)
