Getting the economy flowing
I went along to the first "Cash Only" sample sale in Hollywood today organized by Back Side Records in Burbank.
Whilst everyone waited patiently outside Cinespace at 10am (the earliest I've been out of the house for a while) I watched the police cordon off Hollywood Blvd. What's that? Filming on a Saturday? Nope, it was for an anti-war protest accompanied by mounted police.
Once inside there was cool stuff from Heavy Hitters and SSUR had fresh stuff, but when everyone else was $5-$10-$20 SSUR had $125 jumpers. No doubt they had the quality gear there with handfinished jumpers, but no one was feeling those prices. Even though that "Jaws" knitted sweater was dope!
I started off slowly with the $5 Ts and got chatting to Scottie at Ubiquity Records who have launched a bunch of t-shirt designs. Then I found Money Mosic Mayhem (I think from the O.C.) who had this jacket with the LV square pattern on. I tried it on...it fitted. They didn't have a mirror so I got the dude to try it on...it looked alright. So I haggled him down to $50! Last one.
My planning failed The plan was to go, look, see and leave. The buying part happened accidently! Hahaaa. There's a party at Cinespace tonight as part of the event and it concludes tomorrow. I'm sure I could easily spend another $80 so I'm staying away!
